DESCRIPTION:Our speaker for this evening\, Liz Woolley\, will introduce us to the life of Olive Gibbs\, a significant figure in many aspects of Oxford life and in local education. She is remembered among much else for her role in preventing the proposed ring road being built across Christchurch Meadows and as a founder member of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. \nWe will be trialling an earlier start time and a new layout for the chairs . The committee members will welcome feedback. \nThere will be sign-up sheets for help with setting up the furniture for our Christmas meal\, for donations of items for the Christmas Market stall and for help on the day. Payment for the Christmas meal (£22) can be made at the meeting and must be received  by 15 November.

DESCRIPTION:This is a remarkable place and a visit is a very interesting experience. Members who were there some years ago have never forgotten the sight of furnace that converts waste materials that can’t be recycled into energy to power local homes. Up to 15 people can be accommodated at one time and an afternoon visit on the same day may also be arranged. Please let Margaret or Caroline know as soon as possible if you would like to come. The final list of names has to be given to Viridor by 30 June and car sharing needs to be agreed.

DESCRIPTION:This evening has been arranged by our Vice-president\, Pat Smith\, in response to the Resolution to be voted on at the NFWI Annual Meeting at the end of May ‘Clean Rivers for People and Wildlife. The speakers from the Cotswold Rivers Trust will be Richard Knowles\, Chair of the Trust\, and Tony Bostock\, one of the Trust’s directors. Although Adderbury is not in the Trust’s area\, Richard is very familiar with our local rivers. They will be alerting us to the critical issues around water quality and encouraging participation in ways to bring improvements to the current unsatisfactory condition of most rivers in England. There is no charge for the meeting but the Trust will accept donations. Refreshments of tea\, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small charge or donation.
