SUMMARY:Visit to Viridor Energy Recovery Facility at Ardley
DESCRIPTION:This is a remarkable place and a visit is a very interesting experience. Members who were there some years ago have never forgotten the sight of furnace that converts waste materials that can’t be recycled into energy to power local homes. Up to 15 people can be accommodated at one time and an afternoon visit on the same day may also be arranged. Please let Margaret or Caroline know as soon as possible if you would like to come. The final list of names has to be given to Viridor by 30 June and car sharing needs to be agreed.

SUMMARY:Open meeting with the Cotswold Rivers Trust
DESCRIPTION:This evening has been arranged by our Vice-president\, Pat Smith\, in response to the Resolution to be voted on at the NFWI Annual Meeting at the end of May ‘Clean Rivers for People and Wildlife. The speakers from the Cotswold Rivers Trust will be Richard Knowles\, Chair of the Trust\, and Tony Bostock\, one of the Trust’s directors. Although Adderbury is not in the Trust’s area\, Richard is very familiar with our local rivers. They will be alerting us to the critical issues around water quality and encouraging participation in ways to bring improvements to the current unsatisfactory condition of most rivers in England. There is no charge for the meeting but the Trust will accept donations. Refreshments of tea\, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small charge or donation. DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately because the pickers\, hi-viz jackets\, gloves and bags ordered from Cherwell District Council failed to arrive\, only a few members were able to take part\, using pickers  kindly provided by a villager .Several bags of rubbish were collected and the difference in the areas covered was noticeable. We hope to arrange another litter pick as part of Big Green Week in June..
