DESCRIPTION:Sheila P has kindly offered to lead a walk starting from the car park at Upton House. Please arrange your own transport\, car sharing where possible\, and meet at the car park at 11 am. This is an easy walk of about two and a quarter miles with three stiles. There is a bit of a climb to start with and at one point we walk along the wide grass verge for about five minutes. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic to eat on our return to the car park at the top of which there are picnic tables and benches.If you don’t want to walk but would like to come for the picnic meet us at about 12.30 in the car park.

SUMMARY:Visit to the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies with a short talk and a tour of the buildings and gardens
DESCRIPTION:This visit has been arranged following a talk at our meeting in January. There will be a short introduction to the Centre\, followed by a guided tour of the buildings and the gardens\, both of which are of outstanding quality. \nDepending on numbers\, we hope to have the use of the Barton community bus which seats 15\, plus up to 3 cars with five members in each. This would allow 30 people to take part.. Parking at the Centre is limited to three cars and a coach and reaching it from Adderbury by public transport is complicated. The bus would leave at about 9.15 am and return to Adderbury after the visit. but there may be the option of a drop-off near the city centre for those who would like to spend time there and then take public transport home. The estimated cost is about £10 for transport and £2 for refreshments. SUMMARY:Visit to Hill Close Gardens in Warwick with tour and coffee POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:This visit has been postponed because it was to take place at the height of the July heatwave. \nThe hidden hedged gardens of Warwick are rare survivals of Victorian gardens\, originally used by townspeople who had no outdoor space where they lived. They were threatened with destruction but were saved and restored\, The summer houses are Grade 11 listed.  The gardens are approximately 26 miles from Adderbury and the postcode is CV34 6HF. The minimum number for this visit is 10 and the cost is £8.50 per person.  Members are encouraged to arrange car sharing where possible. We will need to leave the village by 10.15 am. For more information or to add your name to the list of members planning to come\, please contact a committee member. \nHot drinks and light snacks are available but if the weather is good members may like to take a picnic to enjoy on one of the allotment plots that make up the gardens. Some of the plants raised in the gardens are sold in the plant nursery.

DESCRIPTION:Emma Hamer\, our speaker at our meeting in  April\, has kindly invited us to visit her farm at Horley. This will be in the afternoon of Thursday 30 June\, starting at 2.30. Members can choose either to walk the fields or to go straight to the farmhouse to watch a film about the farm in the old farm shop. The walk is about two miles long and and after it members will drive to the farmhouse to join the rest of the party for tea and cakes. Please arrange to share transport where possible. Parking for those joining the walk will be at the Old forge.
