We welcome women of all ages who are looking for friendship and support. We aim to provide members with opportunities to discover new interests and to take part in a wide variety of activities and campaigns.
All ideas and suggestions are always very welcome, whether it is regarding speakers, trips or any other activities. Also, if you have a skill or would like to learn something new, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Together again! Our first face to face meeting indoors was in the Institute on 2 September. We enjoyed each other’s company and a fascinating talk about the Canadian folk artist, Maud Lewis. Now we are looking forward to 7 October when we welcome our speaker, the British/Irish author Kit de Waal. Her debut novel, My Name Is Leon, was a recent favourite of our Book Group readers. Kit has worked in criminal and family law, and as a magistrate. She has wide experience in adoption, sits on adoption panels and has written training materials for social services.. She is a devotee of audiobooks and her own novel was voiced by Lenny Henry.
We finally managed to meet up in person at our Summer Garden Party held in Janet’s garden. Those of us who were able to be there enjoyed a marvellous evening of laughter and chatter, Pimm’s and nibbles. Not even the rain drumming down on the gazebos was able to dampen our spirits! We celebrated 100 years since the original WI was founded in the village and enjoyed Pat’s celebration cake.
Adderbury WI’s 2021 membership year started in April. Our Committee has put together an interesting and varied programme for our members for the coming 12 months and information about this can be found in the Calendar section of this website. We look forward to meeting up in person in The Institute or on the Green just as soon as Covid restrictions permit. In the meantime many members are enjoying our ‘virtual’ meetings via Zoom. We would be very happy to welcome new members to our group. For further information please contact our President on firstname.lastname@example.org
