Our title this month is Madame Bovary, the classic French novel by Gustave Flaubert, published in 1856, and met with fierce controversy, It is the story of Emma Bovary, a doctor’s wife whose romantic ideas, boredom and dissatisfaction with her life lead her into lies, debts and entanglements and eventually to suicide.
