Denman College

On Monday 24th October five members from Adderbury WI attended a day at Denman College.

There were around 70 WI members attending on that day, some were also from Oxfordshire, but the majority had travelled from Wales by coach the day before.

The gardens and grounds were very impressive and we were very fortunate with the weather. We were able to enjoy the gardens in full sunshine; the trees in particular were stunning, showing all their lovely autumn colours.

We were given a cookery demonstration given by Peter Lien (resident chef at Denman). He demonstrated several ways with Pea Soup, Pot Roast Pheasant, Sweet Potato and Sage Gratin and a Pink Pannacotta with Bramble Syrup. He made it all look so easy!

Afterwards we had a look around the Kitchens in the Cookery School. These which were very impressive with all the latest equipment.

Lunch followed, after which we were split into four parties for a tour of the college.

The rooms were all very impressive and the whole place had an air of calm and relaxation; in fact one of our members commented that she felt she had had a break away rather than just a day out!

We were treated to a cream tea, after which we made our way home.
All in all a very enjoyable and relaxing day out.
