June WI Meeting – Correspondence, Programme Community Items

Dear Ladies,

Following the 5th of June Adderbury & District WI meeting, a quick run-through of forthcoming, proposed and community events for your attention.

Immediate Events – School and Church Fete, Saturday, 14th June 2-4pm Lucy Plackett Playing Field.  WI Stall with our filled and decorated jam jars.

Reading Group meet for Maggie O’Farrell’s Instructions for a Heatwave Wednesday, 11th June at 7.30 pm.

Community Market on Thursday, 12th June 6 – 8.30pm

Walking Group walk to Thrupp with pub meal afterwards.  Meet at The Institute at 6.15pm prompt.  Contact Caroline if you would like to join in the fun on Tuesday, 17th June 2014.

Correspondence/communications –

Medicinal Herbalist Open Garden Herb Walks, Thursday evenings from 26th June to 31st July, 6-8pm at Hadsham House, Horley.  Proposed group outing for Thursday, 24th July with sign-up sheet available at meeting.  Contact Caroline if you would like your name to be included.

Blenheim Palace Flower Show -weekend June 20th – 22nd following letter addressed to Caroline as “Dear Sir”….Free entry but no details.

Godswell Park Open Day -following letter of “Dear WI Secretary” – no group attendance is planned.

Programme and activities – Fab walk the other evening, meeting at Blinking Owl PH to North Newington via Wroxton, paths well marked , everything so neat and beautiful, amazing field of barley, lots to interest and enjoy.  Thanks to Bernice for arranging this walk.

Christmas Market Stall – 29th November.  Enthusiastic show of hands for Adderbury WI to do this event and Caroline to make a booking.  WI food items – cakes and jams for possible Christmas Boxes idea, similar to jam jar stall for School Fete.  Stall ideas please?

Community items

Val – Adderbury Library Manager is retiring – Friday, 27th June 2014 – gift presentation during the afternoon, with tickets from village shop and library; donations towards gift most welcome.  Please see library notice for details.

Enid – help needed please for village lunch club, 1st and 3rd Wednesday of month, even the occasional help much appreciated.  Kitchen rota and much fun for all concerned.

Ball Colgrave “mini Chelsea” Open Evening, Wednesday, 23rd July 2014 4 – 8pm
