My report comes from the recorded notes of the draft Minutes of the WI meeting on Thursday, 6th November 2014.
“4. Matters arising: WI District Meeting: Unfortunately no one from our WI was available to attend the meeting and no report has been received as yet. Further details of the baton transfer are awaited but we will need to plan an original means of transport. Details of the Norton group’s plans were outlined. PTA fireworks evening: Caroline had informed Caz that we were unable to help and in reply Caz had again expressed her thanks for our support at the fete. Christmas Market: The rota was on the table and members were invited to add their name to this. Produce for the Market should be delivered to Pauline or Trina or brought to the church early on the morning of 29 November. Christmas tree festival: Diane demonstrated her salt dough decorations and circulated instructions for making them, Caroline will host two sessions for decorating the items with glitter glue on 3 December at Holly House and will purchase the ribbon. Other suggestions for decorations will be kept in mind for future festivals. Trees will be decorated on Thursday 4 December. December meeting and Christmas meal: Carrol outlined the menu choices and asked for more volunteers to make desserts. She will provide recipes. The list of members able to help with cooking or serving was on the table. If anyone knows of other members who would like to come but whose names are not on the list they should email Carrol as soon as possible. Swishing evening: Caroline reminded members that a group is needed to organise this event in February in aid of Frank Wise School. Anyone interested should contact her.
5. WI Calendar: Diane reported that a further article is in the current Contact. The email address for photo entries is up and running. She has had an example of a calendar printed which she will bring to .a later meeting. She is impressed with the quality and pleased with the layout.
6. Correspondence/Communications: BHYP have sent a card thanking us for our donations. Members were encouraged to continue to bring items for BHYP.
On a show of hands it was agreed that Diane would be our delegate at the NFWI Annual Meeting in the Albert Hall next June. If members wished to put their names forward as observers they should contact Caroline who will apply to OFWI. Places are limited.
It was agreed that Adderbury WI should purchase a £10 ticket for the Oxfordshire 400+ club. The AGM of the club is on 24 November.
Details of two weekends at Denman, one reserved for Oxfordshire members, were available.
Margaret will be asked to contribute a short piece for each edition of Contact to inform the village of our activities.
Sandra will investigate having copies of Contact available at our meetings for members who live outside the delivery area.
7. Future activities: In a change to the programme, our speaker in April will be Chris Windass who will talk about music in Adderbury and the Adderbury Ensemble. The book group will meet at 7.30 on 12 November at Tricia’s house to discuss Jeannette Winterson’s Lighthousekeeping (sic). The needlecraft group will meet at Maureen’s at 7.30 on 19 November. Caroline invited any member who would like to lead a winter walk to contact her or a member of the committee.
8. Community Items: Lucy Davidson is arranging a trip to Bath Christmas Market leaving from the Red Lion at 8.30 on Sunday 7 November. Tickets cost £20. Caroline has emailed Andy Green about our concerns over the state of the storage cupboard in the Institute. These recorded notes from the draft WI Minutes of our November meeting have been circulated with a request by Bernice (12 November) that – “if you spot any errors please let me know so that I can have a corrected version for Caroline to sign in December.”
If there are any corrections to be made to the Minutes after December’s meeting and this post, I will record them here.
Thank you, Margaret – [email protected]
