theWI Adderbury & District WI at NFWI Albert Hall – Thursday 4th June 2015

Posted by on Jun 5, 2015 in Reflections

Our President Diane was in London this week attending the NFWI meeting at the Albert Hall and in her absence Margaret our Vice-President chaired our WI meeting at The Institute.  We enjoyed a lively business meeting with good discussions about future happenings and events with even a tiny mention of Christmas activity for 2015.

After our evening’s break for delicious refreshments our Guest Speaker, Claire Jarvis of Fibreworks,  introduced  members to the history and traditions of rag rugs and their production before encouraging everyone to take up the tools of the trade, and with canvas in hand, proceed to create a square of rag rug design for ourselves.   Claire made it all seem so amazingly simple as members hooked and threaded their way to square-heaven with a wide variety of differently textured plain and patterned fabrics.    A highly  enjoyable social interlude followed and much merriment ensued for all present.

See here Diane’s London photos and of our hand-on combined handiwork….
