theWI Adderbury & District WI – Thursday, 7th January 2016 – Our first Meeting of 2016

Posted by on Jan 5, 2016 in Reflections

Dear Ladies,

Happy 2016 to you all!  Here is the agenda for our first meeting of the new year on Thursday this week.

Subscriptions are due at this meeting so please remember to bring cash or a cheque for £37.50.

The following is a forwarded message from Trish Fennell about a forthcoming FOSMA event:

DAMAVAND – A SKI ASCENT OF IRAN’S ICONIC VOLCANO: Friends of St Mary’s Adderbury (FOSMA) welcomes Jonathan White who returns to the Adderbury Institute on Saturday 16th January 2016 at 7.30 pm to give a talk on his recent expedition to Iran.  Tickets £8  (under 15 free and must be accompanied by an adult) from Adderbury Stores, Trish Fennell 01295 811059 or [email protected]; or Val Scarff 01295 810386 .  There will be a bar.

In April 2015 a team from the Alpine Club made the trip to this country which for nearly 40 years has been off the beaten track.  At 5671m, Damavand is the highest mountain in the Middle East and the highest volcano in Asia, and it towers above the rest of the Albortz range between Tehran and the Caspian Sea.  Jonathan will also look at some of the logistical hurdles that the team had to overcome to get there in these politically changing times, and their experiences of visiting the Islamic Republic.

With kind regards

Bernice
