Dear Members,

Gardening at Adderbury Lakes and another new plant to write about, that of the selfheal – Prunella vulgaris – this plant has just popped up into the middle of the beds we are caring for this summer. The tiny purple flower spikes grow on what rather looks like one of those wooden honey dippers, growing low down the purple spikes show up quite well once you’ve spotted them growing. Coming away from this bed towards the pathway to the gate, I suddenly noticed two further selfheal plants I’d not seen before. The white campion plant is still blooming and I feel there could be other plants and blooms just waiting to emerge. The cornflower is still doing very well, so too our ox-eye daisies
