theWI Adderbury & District WI – The Order of St. John Care Trust – Thursday, 2nd February 2017

Posted by on Feb 16, 2017 in Reflections

Dear Members,

Sally Cross and another member of staff from Lake House came to our February meeting to tell us of the work they do with the Order of St. John Care Trust who are sponsored by The Sovereign and Hospitaller Order of Malta and the Venerable Order of St. John of Jerusalem.   They support nearly 4,000 older people in their 70 care homes plus an ever-increasing number of independent home apartments.

Expert dementia care is provided through their working partnership with Dementia UK and their specially trained St, John Admiral Nurses and Lake House follows Quality First, the mark of quality recognised nationally by the Department of Health, committing themselves to their policy of continuous improvement.

Their care is upbeat, positive and encouraging for all clients and their families who need help for elderly relatives, whether it is respite care or full residential status.  Lake House is a people-friendly home in a green and pleasant, well-tended garden. Their positive and welcome embrace is heartfelt for all visitors, their residents and their families and also for all members of the local community of Adderbury, to whom they extend a warm greeting for whenever a visit may be made to Lake House.  Their many activities include the summer fete and regular coffee mornings and any visitor with a friendly dog in toe is always extremely appreciated.

Our two very welcome guest speakers, Sally and her fellow staff member, gave all a very good insight in the lively day-to-day living at Lake House which was most informative, prompting a good question and answer session.
