theWI Adderbury and District WI – Wild Flower Gardening at KHH and Adderbury Lakes July 2017

A quick weed at Adderbury Lakes by Team WI yesterday pm, in the hot sun, but oh my the benefit from just a short weed. That awful sticky plant line had wound its way around, over and through our wild flower collection – ox-eye daisies, Campion, and white Campion and poppies – and just by a little pruning out of this rampant weed, our plants were able to lift their heads and move more freely.

Of course, what all our plants want is a good rainfall very soon. A nice, steady light downpour would be excellent xxx

Adderbury Team WI were at KHH yesterday weeding round our new Grow Wild seedlings, which are just beginning to appear, having been sown at the beginning of June. With the ground becoming so dry, I was rather anxious about their progress and very relieved to find them doing so well. Both beds were watered. Then a few light drops of rain are noticed ….that’s all, no rainfall of thunder storms a promised.

Adderbury Team WI wild flower gardening at KHH with Grow Wild Seed, digging up the back edge of our main area to allow more wild seed sowing shortly and pruning some of our faded Campion blooms. Our second bed now hosts an ox-eye daisy plus our developing Viper’s Bugloss which is growing very happily where situate. .Here’s 2 photos from last Thursday’s morning at KHH with the Garden Volunteer team, Brian and Colin.
