Posted by on Apr 25, 2014 in Reflections

Jill, for twenty years school nurse and currently chair of the Friends of the school, gave an interesting, inspiring and sometimes moving talk about the school, which is our charity for the year. The Frank Wise School, is a community school for children with special needs, between the ages of 2 to 19 years, described by Ofsted as “Outstanding and inspirational”. 7th November, 2013 – Four Shires Magazine by Jeremy Wilson

Posted by on Mar 6, 2014 in Reflections

Jeremy explained to members what is involved in putting the magazine together.  He described his career as a photographer who travelled around taking pictures for the local paper, being taken on by Express Newspaper Group, travelling round Europe before finally settling back in Banbury.  He set up an office in his front room, borrowed money and began producing a magazine called ‘Banbury Fair’.  This name was later changed to ‘Four Shires’.  The magazine aims to cover all that is best in the area.  The aim is to provide a good balance of stories to adverts.  Circulation varies from month to month but on average 5000 copies are sold.  There are now 3 full time staff and 6 or 7 regular freelancers and 3 or 4 contributors involved in the production.  Jeremy ended the evening by taking photographs of members showing their copies of the latest magazine. ...
