Our WI Christmas Tree for the Christmas Tree Festival this weekend looked very pretty dressed in the glittered and beribboned salt dough angels, Christmas trees, snowmen, bells and deer etc. that members cleverly made and decorated. It was an exciting project to be involved in and we all enjoyed dressing our tree at the church last Thursday, I was absolutely thrilled to win our Christmas tree as a raffle prize at the Christmas party last Thursday and now looking forward to taking it home tomorrow morning. Our WI tree did not win any prize at the Festival but it remains a very pretty tree. I really hope there is a Christmas Tree Festival next year, and that we are all keen to decorate another tree. At the end of the Victorian Carol Service this afternoon, the prize-winning entries were announced under the following four groups – Overall Winner with the highest number of votes – Sharp and Blunt – Adderbury Ladies Morris – Tree No. 16 Local Business winning entry – The Meat Joint – Butcher – Tree No. 5 Local Pub group – The Coach and Horses – Wadworth Community Pub of the Year – Tree No. 11 Children and young people group – Little Angels – Under 5s worship – Tree No. 39 Well done to all four prize-winning trees and to the teams which designed and produced them. Here are my photos of the prize-winning entries….. Margaret...

It’s Thursday afternoon and we have gathered together in the Church to decorate our WI Christmas tree for the Festival this weekend. Our tree is a most attractive and well-shaped four-foot tree, with roots, standing in its own pot, in the far left-hand corner of the St. Mary’s. It’s a cold corner but, undaunted by this fact and warmed by the fellowship of our WI companions, plus warm overcoats, we get down to the task of dressing our tree with Caroline’s white tree lights and our amazing collection of beautifully made, glittering and beribboned salt dough angels, Christmas trees, stars, snowmen, deer and parcels. In less than two hours our work is done and we are gazing at our gloriously dressed and decorated Christmas tree and feeling rather pleased with our efforts, thankful to all those members who produced our salt dough figures. Well done Ladies. Let’s see what ideas we can come up with for next year’s tree dressing Festival for it seems highly likely that there will be another opportunity for the creative spirit to fly high in 2015. We had great fun with our tree dressing and here’s a few photos from Chris Schafe’s camera for you to see for yourselves…. Margaret Halstead ...
